The First Ever Anchorage Hobby Fest
You Don't Want to Miss This!
Why do I do what I do? More than any other reason, I love to teach others using the experience I have gained through many years in these hobbies. It's very rewarding seeing a new hobbyist grow and graduate through the ranks in their chosen hobby. Whether it is a 10 year old building their first model, or introducing a skilled modeler to a tool they didn't know existed, the fun that we create is satisfying! One of the natural extensions for hobbying fun, is sharing that fun with other like-minded people, and we get to be the hub for that awesome community!
With that in mind, I am extremely excited to announce an event that we will be hosting on Saturday, May 20th. We are calling it Anchorage Hobby Fest! This is an idea that my Dad and I have been talking about for nearly 30 years! And it's time to stop talking and make it happen! You are all invited to attend this free event, where the local modeling clubs will be putting on demonstrations and sharing what they're all about. There will be hands on things to play with, as well as lots of fun things to get inspired by!
There will be RC flying, RC car racing, RC rock crawling, RC drifting, plastic model contests, model rocket displays, model railroad displays, the Boy Scout's pinewood derby State Championships, an All-Model-Hobby swap meet, hands on demos, glider skills tests, food trucks, and probably more!
In attendance will be:
The Alaska Radio Control Society (RC Flying)
The Frontier Fun Flyers (RC Flying)
The Alaska Drone Racing League (Drone Racing)
The Anchorage Radio Operated Auto Racing Association (RC Car Racing)
Our friends at Triple J's Hobby Works (RC Car Racing)
The Anchorage Chapter of the International Plastic Model Society (Plastic Modeling)
The Hangar49 Gundam Club (GunPla Modeling)
The Alaska Northstars (Model Rockets)
The Military Society of Model Railroad Engineers (Model Trains)
The Northern Lights Model Railroad Club (Model Trains)
The Great Alaska Council (Boy Scouts)
I cannot wait to share this fun with the community!
