The Japanese Submarine I-58 was built in September 1944 at the Yokosuka Navy Yard. It was equipped with a Type 0 small reconnaissance seaplane E-14 (Glen) and had a catapult for launching it. The submarine had six torpedo tubes, three on each side of the bow, and was also used as a mother ship for the Kaiten human torpedoes. On the night of July 30th 1945, it launched six regular torpedoes at the U.S. Navy heavy cruiser Indianapolis, sinking the ship in just fifteen minutes.
