The Yamato's last mission included the Yukikaze as part of the escort team, which safely returned many of its crew members. This 1/350 scale model showcases the Yukikaze as it appeared on that fateful mission in April 1945, featuring added radar and anti-aircraft weapons. Commissioned in January of 1940, the Yukikaze was the eighth ship of the Kagero-class and was known as the "lucky destroyer" for its involvement in numerous significant battles, such as Midway and Leyte Gulf, where it always emerged unscathed.

Based on up-to-date research, this renowned WWII battleship has been meticulously recreated with 20 sets of molds and over 1,500 parts in a 752mm long 1/350 scale model kit. Tamiya has gone beyond standard ship model norms by including previously unseen elements like the turret barbettes. This model accurately reflects the Yamato on her final voyage to Okinawa, featuring enhanced anti-aircraft weaponry, and can be built as a full-hull or waterline display. In addition, two sheets of photo-etched parts are provided to add detail, such as ladders and cranes. With its superior engineering, precision, and intricate details, this model is truly Tamiya's flagship.

Length: 752mm. Image shows finished model.
